Aim: understanding God’s plan of salvation
Yes! what is to be rightly interpreted then as “elect of God”? who are the ones God has pre-ordained unto salvation? Are there people who have been predestined to believe the gospel?
Well, if you have been following our series on salvation is for all, you would have known the answer by now: “all flesh”. How it is, is what we want to see now.
There is a certain word often found in the Bible which I think itself is the origin and backbone of this favouritism policy. That word is “elect”.
And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the ELECT's sake those days shall be shortened. (Matthew 24:22 KJV)
Hmm! Oh end-time scriptures again! End-timophobia. Oh my Christ! (smiles). Let’s see more.
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if [it were] possible, they shall deceive THE VERY ELECT Mat 24:24
This verse even seems as if to “restrict” the kind of people that fall in. look at this one too.
For many are called, but few [are] CHOSEN Mat 22:14
So let’s pray God should choose us. Or that He should in His merciful mercy and compassionate pity, count us among the chosen and elect, so that we can make heaven, so that we will not fall into those deceivable by the false Christs and false prophets, so that we can infallibly hold our way till the last. Oh God! Because He said:
And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his ELECT from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven. Mark 13:27
I advise you to take a deep breath now, as I have helped you package scriptures by which you will understand this “electhood” because I know if you have had to study your bible on this subject area, you wouldn’t have had this distorted concept. I won’t make any strong argument. No need for Greek/Hebrew Dictionaries or ant theological sophistication. You just read the following scriptures too, and see what “elect” is used to mean.
Now, have you read the story of the unjust judge before, where Jesus said men ought always to pray and not to faint? Have you seen this about the parable?
“And shall not God avenge his own ELECT, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?” Luk 18:7 .Do you fall into that group? thus, the elect cry day and night unto “him”. Will God answer your prayer? Will He also do the same to any that calls unto Him? If any call unto Father the same way you do, will He answer? If God will answer anybody, then that man that called is “His own elect
